About Bernie J. Dufrene Photography

“Sometimes I do get to places just when God's ready to have somebody click the shutter.”
                                                                              -Ansel Adams

Hello and welcome! I am a freelance photographer specializing in Portrait, Architectural, Landscape, Abstract, and Event Photography work. I extend my services to clients throughout Michigan, Indiana, and beyond! Yes, I will travel to serve your photography needs!

I am a dreamer by nature and an artist at heart. I’m always thinking of ways to create art out of everyday life. It’s never as simple as “clicking” the shutter.

What I can offer you...

MY STUDIO IS ANYWHERE YOU WANT IT TO BE...I love shooting outdoors! Natural light is the best! Do you have a favorite park or place? I can even do portrait sessions at your home- this is great for the kids because they feel more relaxed at home- the portraits turn out so much more natural to showcase their true spirit and personality.

I absolutely love what I do and I strive to use the creative vision that God has given me to capture the essence of life and the beauty that radiates from it. I realize that each one of my clients are unique individuals and my #1 goal is to capture that in my work to deliver the UN-ORDINARY, bringing a new style and flavor of photography to your home or business! My skills and equipment are always advancing to new levels and as they do, so does my excitement to offer better services and products for my clients.

Some other things I offer are...

*On-Site Portraits
*Event Photography (Charity Events, Business Functions, Church Events)
*Commercial Photography (promotional photographs for your promotional needs)

A Little More About Me and How I got Started in Photography...

When I was younger, I first was mesmerized with photography when my Dad introduced me to an “accordion” style camera he had since the 60's. It was a very old Polaroid Land Camera and film was very hard to find, but we did, and took very interesting photos. After that, I remember asking for my own personal camera and so for Christmas one year I received my very first 110 Color Film Camera, equipped with Flash and everything! When I was in High School, I entered a Video Contest for the Local Cable Company. The contest was to create a video of the most exciting things around Baton Rouge, La. I used a combination of Video and Still Shot Photography to create a video and won 1st place! Since then, I’ve loved taking pictures....as often as possible. I began taking courses at Midwest Photography Workshop, directed by Bryce Denison. Bryce is a 30 year veteran to photography and has studied under Ansel Adams. Under his direction and instruction my passion for capturing the moment on film has only grown stronger. Using techniques that I’ve learned from my photography courses, I entered another photography contest that the Detroit Auto Show held in January of 2007. My photo was chosen out of 318 photographs for 1st place in the Close Up Category. The photo was published in an international publication for the auto industry called “Show Talk.”

I've devoted much discipline to pursuing my photography career- learning by experience, study, and the guidance of others in the field. I currently use a FujiFilm S3 Pro professional DSLR camera, Nikon and Sigma Lenses, and professional lighting equipment.
